SELF CARE :: ASHLEY
Very often, the people who inspire us most are not the people who are unafraid, but who feel fear and do it anyway. It's very easy to go through this world feeling lost, like there's something wrong with you, or that things never quite work out the way you want them too. It's easy to beat yourself up over what you haven't done. But have you also considered that your life--with all its challenges and struggles and accomplishments--has inspired countless others? That your story may seem crazy and convoluted to you, but is salvation and succor to someone else? That someone at this very moment may be alive and kicking because of you? That you yourself have felt fear and still did it anyway? Have you considered becoming your own inspiration instead of your own competition?
When I asked Ashley Berry to be a part of this project, my two questions were: What would you do if you could offer yourself some help or advice? How would you practice self care if you could truly give it to yourself? Thank you so much Ashley for shining so brightly and moving me to tears with your answers.

Thank you so much to Treasure Gemz for hosting this incredible event at The Lazarus Experience in Fashion District LA, designed especially for women of color to find other local women-owned businesses and services in their own backyard. SO humbled to be asked to shine a light on all the beautiful and talented attendees. #fiestabanphoto

The 5th and final night of their residency at Bigfoot Lodge, Pop Noir was in full effect. Thanks so much to this LA-based synth-pop duo for having me!

A second time around for Pop Noir’s 4th night of residency at The Bigfoot Lodge in Los Feliz. So many jams from this great post-punk/synth duo. Plus, it was also the brothers McGarry’s father Steve’s birthday, so a double whammy!

Another amazing day with Queen Sheba and Model Mafia who believe in giving back to their community. Their annual Feed The Homeless event is the product of a year’s worth of fundraising from their annual Summer Fashion Fest and membership. So glad I could be a part of this. It’s never the wrong time to do the right thing.

The people are standing up. This year’s Women’s March was strong as ever. Go the healers, vote, get active, show up, listen twice as much as you speak, do something!
The Phenomenauts & Radioactive Chicken Heads at Toxic Toast Theater (1/18/19)
When I heard Oakland’s finest sci-fi-billy punk band The Phenomenauts were playing with The Radioactive Chicken Heads at Toxic Toast Theater, you know I had to trasmit pics back to the future. Great Scott!
POP NOIR αƚ Bιɠϝσσƚ Lσԃɠҽ Eαʂƚ (1/3/19)
Thanks so much to POP NOIR for having me to their debut residency night at Bigfoot Lodge in Los Feliz. This band is straight out of the synth-pop Simple Minds/New Order/Depeche Mode wheelhouse and I just can’t get enough. Check them out every Thursday in January! #fiestabanphoto
